Snowy February Chicago Engagement
Our home base as wedding photographers might be Cedar Rapids, but we LOVE traveling outside of Iowa. Especially to the amazing city of Chicago! We were able to make a little trip out of it and enjoy everything the city has to offer. (Mainly the brand new Starbucks Reserve that we stood in awe of for longer than we’d like to admit.)
Millennium Park
After our touristy adventures, we met up with Rob and Shazia at Millennium Park early in the afternoon. It was a pretty gloomy day which ended up working in our favor! As photographers, we’re always looking for the perfect light and a cloud covered sky allowed us to take pictures from any direction. While we didn’t take any pictures in front of the Bean (minus a few selfies of Joe and I…#tourists) we got some great pictures with the beautiful Chicago skyline as our backdrop.
Chicago Union Station
We then headed to Chicago Union Station. If you haven’t been, this is where you can hop on a train and travel basically anywhere. Let’s talk about the building — it is beautiful and immaculate! High ceilings, marble and historic architecture make it pretty easy to take beautiful engagement pictures. Rob and Shazia’s formal outfits paired perfectly with the elegant feel of the Station.
Lincoln Park Conservatory
We hoped to take more pictures outside but were bombarded with a huge rainstorm. Instead, we headed to the Lincoln Park Conservatory to escape the rain and take advantage of the lush greens inside the botanical gardens. Lastly, as luck would have it, the rain turned to snow and we were able to snap a few pictures in the snowfall before wrapping up our session.
Thank you Rob and Shazia for showing us around the city. We can’t wait to be back for your big day next summer!
